With less than 1,500 local residents, Sea Bright is quaint and quiet, a welcome respite for many local New Yorkers. Located near the northern peak of New Jersey as it crests away from New York City, Sea Bright is often considered the state’s first oceanfront town. The Highlands has the geographic claim to fame of being the first New Jersey shore town, terming itself “Where the Jersey Shore Begins,” though it does technically look out at Sandy Hook Bay.
